The examination is intended for trainees who have undertaken core training. It is a knowledge based examination, intended to provide evidence of a trainee’s understanding of the principles and practice of common paediatric conditions.
By itself it does not constitute evidence of completion of core training, but is a knowledge based examination only. It should be complemented by evidence of competency attainment (such as provided by work based assessments), experience (as can be shown by a log book of cases) and a clinical face to face examination. For further details on assessment of training please see the EAP website.
Applicants must be engaged in (or have completed) paediatric training at a recognised training centre*. Before applying, candidates will need to have a letter from their training department, on headed paper, that confirms they are qualified doctors, and are either in a training post or substantive post within that institution. This letter will need to be uploaded during the application.
Please also note that the name submitted must match the applicant’s passport name as this will be used as proof of identity for the exam.
